Lidobus
Weggis
The Lidobus is a part of Weggis and it would be hard to imagine Weggis without it! The Lidobus provides a trolley-bus-service between Hertenstein and Weggis from spring through to autumn.
The Lidobus's first service was at the National Trades Fair in Zürich in 1939. Here are few dates in the history of the Weggis Lido bus.
| Year | Facts |
|---|---|
| 1944 | Despite WW2 the Weggis Tourist Office decided to purchase the first Lidobus. It was known as the "Elektrobähnli" (Electro wagon). It used up 3500 Kw/hr per year. |
| 1959 | The Tourist office decided to purchase a new petrol fuelled Lidobus. |
| 1965 | The blinds were replaced with glass windows. Much appreciated by the guests. |
| 1967 | The Lidobus was given a complete overhaul before the start of the season. |
| 1983 | It was decided the route should incorporate the Kurhaus Seeblick, the Lidobus was hence made wheelchair "friendly". |
| 1989 | The route was extended to Hertenstein. |
| 2002 | The Lidobus was given a total overhaul and repainted in a different design. |
