Alpine Cheese Dairy Chäserenholz

Produce your own cheese and butter under the watchful eye of Franz Toni Kennel - a well respected dairy farmer on Mt. Rigi.
As well as the traditional Swiss Brown Cows and calves you will also meet Franz Toni’s alpine pigs.
Day out with a mountain farmer
Enjoy a scenic train-ride from Vitznau, Goldau or Weggis to Mt. Rigi. On the top, you will meet the genuine mountain farmer Franz Toni. Next comes a short walk (approx. 20 minutes) to the alpine farm "Chäserenholz" where participants spend about two hours making their own cheese or butter. Afterwards you will enjoy a delicious bowl, snacks and the barbecue. Then experience the so called "Betruf", a traditional song-prayer of nearly forgotten days. An easy 30-minute-walk through charming mountain forests and over soft alpine meadows will take you back to the station. On the train-ride down you can admire the fantastic panoramic view once more.
