Portrait Weggis
Weggis
The beautiful village of Weggis is situated in a quiet bay on Lake Lucerne at the south west flank of Mount Rigi. Weggis has an exceptionally mild climate and a multitude of Mediterranean plants such as palm trees, grapes, orchids and chestnuts grow here. It is therefore not surprising that Weggis is often referred to as the "Riveria of Central Switzerland".
The village has around 4000 inhabitants and is the second largest tourist destination after the city of Lucerne in the county of Lucerne.
The "Weggisers" are full of life and are a fun loving community; this is shown by the numerous events that are organised throughout the year. Can one put this down to the locals themselves or their idyllic surroundings? Probably both. Visit Weggis and enjoy this vibrant attitude to life and genuine hospitality.
